AAJI Records Payment Of Life Insurance Claims Reaches IDR 72.47 Trillion In Semester I-2025

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Life Insurance Association (AAJI) noted that life insurance companies pay total claims and benefits of IDR 72.47 trillion from January to June 2025.

"The total payment of claims is given to 5.01 million beneficiaries," said Head of the AAJI Distribution and Inclusion Channel, Elin Waty, quoting Antara.

He said the claim figure was recorded to have decreased by 6.7 percent compared to the same period in 2024 (year-on-year/yoy).

He said the decline mainly occurred in submissions made by policyholders to stop or cancel the insurance policy before the expiration period (subscription of claim) which fell 8.5 percent yoy to Rp34.4 trillion.

Meanwhile, partial withdrawal claims (partial against) decreased by 26.3 percent yoy to IDR 7.47 trillion.

"The decrease in the rendering and partial trade claims is an excellent achievement for the life insurance industry as an indicator for the public to be increasingly aware that life insurance is a long-term protection, which benefits will be maximized if maintained until the contract period," explained Elin.

In addition to these two claims, the collection's health claims also decreased by 37.2 percent yoy to Rp2.64 trillion, while other claims fell 0.5 percent yoy to Rp3.22 trillion.

However, AAJI noted that other types of claims had increased, such as the contract termination claim which grew 0.2 percent yoy to Rp10 trillion.

Claims of death also increased 5.4 percent yoy to IDR 5.18 trillion and paid to around 280 thousand beneficiaries, while health claims rose to IDR 12.2 trillion or grew 3.2 percent yoy.

Elin said the most significant increase occurred in individual health claims that jumped 25.5 percent to Rp9.56 trillion for 180 thousand beneficiaries.

He said the average value of claims per person reached Rp54.19 million, an increase of 135 percent yoy compared to the value of claims in the same period in the previous year which was recorded at Rp23.03 million.

The claim payment shows the role of the life insurance industry in supporting the financial resilience of the Indonesian people, especially policyholders.

"The following data shows how this industry has become a strong and trusted industry, and is responsible for the commitment promised to policyholders or beneficiaries through payment of claims and benefits of life insurance as agreed in the policy," Elin said.
