Bali Provincial Government Prepares PSEL Technology, Needs 1,000 Tons Of Waste Per Day
JAKARTA - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Bali is preparing waste management technology into electrical energy (PSEL) where after running they must prepare 1,000 tons of waste every day.
Head of the Bali Forestry and Environment Agency (DKLH) I Made Rentin said this step was a continuation after the open dumping of the Suwung TPA was completely closed in December 2025.
"On the way to it (the closure of the open dumping of the Suwung TPA), the Bali Provincial Government with the Badung Regency Government and the Denpasar City Government are preparing to implement the technology called PSEL," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, August 23.
"Tugas dan kewajiban pemerintah daerah melakukan dua hal yaitu menyiapkan lahan lokasi untuk penerapan PSEL dan memastikan dukungan sampah hariannya itu tidak boleh kurang dari 1.000 ton per hari," sambung Made Rentin.
He explained that waste processing technology into electrical energy cannot run if the waste that enters is less than 1,000 tons per day, can even be fined.
However, according to its estimation, when garbage from Denpasar and Badung is combined, it will cause waste per day at 1,400 tons.
With this, no more waste is thrown into the Suwung TPA, cleaners such as self-management can also bring their trash to PSEL because this technology changes all types of waste.

"When PSEL is running, they will not only support the TPA to only receive residue, but support switching to the location of the application of waste processing, self-management trucks can bring garbage there," said Made Rentin.
The Bali Provincial Government itself has not yet determined the location of the waste processing, but what is certain is that the Suwung TPA will ultimately only receive residual waste.
"Resid waste is still allowed and can enter the Suwung TPS because it is the responsibility of the local government, the example that is the easiest for us to understand is pampers and sanitary napkins that are no longer able to be recycled and have no economic value," he said.
After the open dumping process for the Suwung TPA stops completely, the Bali Provincial Government can focus on turning the 22-hectare TPA land into a city park.
Currently, the process carried out by the government is only a gradual arrangement every Wednesday, because the disposal site is closed on that day, the rest is waste with a composition of 30 percent organic and 70 percent inorganic is still in, so the structuring process cannot be carried out.
After the regulations regarding waste processing from the central government are completed, third parties and investors who run the program will be presented, so that the process of structuring waste as high as 35 meters at the Suwung TPA can be carried out more optimally.
