China Invites President Putin, President Prabowo And Secretary General Of The United Nations To Join SCO Summit Later This Month

JAKARTA - President Xi Jinping will host President Vladimir Putin, President Masoud Pezeshkian, to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, as China holds the 25th Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

China's Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin said in a press statement on Friday that the SCO summit, which was attended by more than 20 countries, will be held in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1, to strengthen the organization's relations.

"The more volatile and complex the international situation, the more important it is for all countries to strengthen unity and cooperation," Bin said.

"With the stability and resilience of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), we can overcome unpredictable uncertainties and factors and create a conducive environment for lasting peace," Bin explained.

It said President Xi was planned to chair the 25th meeting of the SCO State Head Council and the SCO Plus meeting.

"Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet with the heads of more than 20 foreign countries and ten international organizations on the banks of the Hai River to summarize SCO's success experience, encourage its development and restructuring, and unite its participants for cooperation and cooperation," Bin said as quoted by TASS.

Bin said Russian President Vladimir Putin, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Iranian President Masoud Pesshkian, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Manet, President of Maldives Mohamed Muizzou, Prime Minister of Nepal Sharma Oli, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, President of Turkmen Serdymuhamedov, President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim and Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chin are scheduled to attend.

In addition, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and a number of other leaders of international organizations are also scheduled to attend.

"This SCO Summit will be closed with the signing and issuance of the Tianjin Declaration," said Bin.

At the SCO 2024 summit in the capital city of Kazakhstan, Astana, leaders agreed to increase cooperation in the field of regional counterterrorism, renewable energy, and the digital economy.
