Vietjet Accelerate Green Transformation, Stabilize Positions In Asia

JAKARTA August became a transformative moment for Vietjet with three important achievements that further confirmed its position as a pioneering airline in Asia as well as a trusted partner for global and Indonesian tourists.

The airline inaugurated the construction of the latest Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Center at Long Thanh International Airport to become the first airline in Vietnam to operate flights with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) produced domestically, and was again awarded the Best Workplace in Asia' award from HR Asia for the fifth time in a row as a form of consistency in building an employee-oriented work culture.

As part of 80 strategic initiatives to commemorate Vietnam's 80th Anniversary (September 2), Vietjet officially started the construction of the Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Center at Long Thanh International Airport.

The nearly $100 million facility includes Hangar 3 and 4 at Long Thanh International Airport which will become the main airport in Vietnam.

With modern international standard infrastructure, the hub is designed to serve up to 10 aircraft at once. In addition to supporting the expansion of the Vietjet fleet, this facility also supports the operations of domestic and international airlines, as well as strengthening Vietnam's position as a regional aviation hub.

This investment confirms Vietjet's long-term vision and its commitment to building sustainable infrastructure that is future-oriented.

Through a partnership with Petrolimex Aviation, Vietjet received 1,200 cubic meters of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) mixed at the Nha Be Oil Depot, Vietnam, which fully follows the European Union's ISCC international standards.

This achievement continued the historic milestone of Vietjet's inaugural flight with SAF in October 2024 and also emphasized the airline's commitment to reducing carbon emissions, protecting the environment, and supporting Vietnam's National Green Growth Strategy and global zero carbon targets by 2050.

Vietjet's Permanent Vice President, To Viet Thang, stated that the agreement between Vietjet and Petrolimex Aviation further underscores our commitment to environmentally friendly and sustainable development.

Through an expansion of the fleet consisting of hundreds of modern aircraft, Vietjet is committed to increasing the use of SAF in order to encourage a green transition in Vietnam and the world.

Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Uong Viet Dung, said that the use of domestically mixed SAF has strategic value because it is able to pave the way for a sustainable domestic supply chain as well as meet international market demands. This initiative also strengthens the synergy between airlines, fuel providers, regulators, and financial institutions in expanding the use of SAF in Vietnam.

Produced using renewable raw materials such as crude oil, agricultural waste, wood biomass, and urban waste, SAF is able to cut carbon emissions by up to 80% during its lifetime when compared to conventional jet fuel.

In line with the progress he has taken in terms of aviation development and sustainable infrastructure, Vietjet has again been named one of the 'Best Workplace in Asia' at the 2025 HR Asia Awards.

The Vietnamese airline now employs more than 9,000 professional workers from 60 countries operating in Vietnam and the international market. As part of a commitment to human resource development, Vietjet consistently invests in its employees through comprehensive health services, strong welfare policies, professional development programs, and comprehensive family support.

The Vietjet Aviation Academy also provides international standard training with global experts.

Meanwhile, Vietjet's modern offices and facilities are also designed to encourage collaboration, welfare, and creativity.

With direct services covering more than 145 routes in the Asia Pacific region, Vietjet is able to connect Jakarta and Bali with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City freely.

From Vietnam, Indonesian tourists can easily continue their journey to various popular destinations in Asia Pacific through an affordable and comfortable Vietjet flight network.
