Hwang Jung Eum Sued 3 Years In Prison Alleged Embezzlement Of Agency Funds
JAKARTA - Hwang Jung Eum was sentenced to three years in prison for alleged embezzlement of funds from the agency managed by the actress and her family.
Launching The Korea Times, the latest hearing to be held on Thursday, August 21 in Jeju stated that the prosecutor demanded Hwang Jung Eum for three years in prison. He is said to have violated the Specific Economic Criminal Law.
The 40-year-old actress embezzled 4.34 billion Won from her agency since 2022 which she uses to invest in cryptocurrencies and the rest paid property taxes with credit cards.
Hwang Jung Eum is the only artist under Hunminjeongeum Entertainment, an agency managed by his family.
When the trial began, the She Was Pretty star admitted all demands and paid in two stages, namely on May 30 and June 5 by liquidated all of his personal assets.

Financially, the conflict between the artist and the agency has been resolved, but the trial process continues considering Hwang Jung Eum was reported. The artist's legal representative also asked for relief regarding his client.
"The defendant did not know legal accounting and procedures and believed that as long as he could pay his money later, there would be no problem," said legal representative Hwang Jung Eum.
"Considering he has paid his total and is considering his motivation, we ask for leniency from the judge," he said.
Hwang Jung Eum also said, "I focus on working hard and failing to manage the accounts and tax needs that led to the incident. I am very sorry."
The court is scheduled to submit a verdict on September 25.
