Rizki Juniansyah Breaks The National Record Of Clean And Jerry

JAKARTA - Indonesia's weightlifter, Rizki Juniansyah, managed to set a national clean and jerk record in the national selection (selection) to prepare for the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand later this year.

Rizki, who fell in the men's 79 kilograms class, managed to reach the 205 kilograms class. This figure exceeds the world standard of clean and jerk 202 kilograms, but does not officially count as a world record.

"Rizki Juniansyah (79 kilograms of men) has a national record for clean and jerk," wrote the statement from the Executive Board of the Indonesian Weightlifting Association (PB PABSI) on their social media pages.

The record leaves Rizki with the opportunity to officially set a world record at the nearest 2025 Weightlifting World Championship which will take place in Forde, Norway, on October 3-12, 2025.

The 22-year-old athlete previously competed in the 73 kilograms class and managed to bring home the 2024 Olympic gold medal which took place in Paris, France.

He at that time climbed onto the highest podium with a total force of 354 kilograms. At that time, Rizki also broke the record of flaws and jerk with an lift of 199 kilograms.

However, Rizki is now appearing in the 79 kilograms class after a change in the weight category in the new rules of the International Weightlifting Federation or IWF which has been in effect since June 1, 2025.

After the Olympics, Rizki moved up in 81 kg class and appeared in his new class at the 2025 Weightlifting Asian Championships in Jiangshan, China, on May 9-15, 2025.

In the championship, Rizki recorded a total lift of 358 kg, consisting of 161 kg of snatch and 197 kg of clean and jerk to win two silver medals from snatch and a total lift and one bronze from clean and jerk.

However, the first appearance in the 81 kg class was also the last due to a change in IWB regulations that removed a number of class categories and replaced them with new classes.
