Arriving In Indonesia, Mauro Zijlstra Implements The Naturalization Continuation Process

JAKARTA - The candidate for the new Indonesian national team player, Mauro Zijlstra, is known to have arrived in the country to continue naturalization.

Mauro arrived in Indonesia on Friday, August 22, 2025, to take care of the transfer of citizens from the Netherlands to Indonesia. The player's presence is known from the video uploads shared by the PSSI Executive Committee (Exco), Arya Sinulingga.

Through a short video, Arya showed Mauro who appeared to be visiting the PSSI office. The prospective Garuda squad player was also seen chatting casually with Arya Sinulingga.

After arriving in Indonesia, Mauro is scheduled to visit the Dutch Embassy in Jakarta to complete the administrative process for citizenship transfer.

In addition, he will also undergo a series of activities as part of the citizenship transfer process to join the Indonesian national team.

The player who was born in Zandam, Netherlands, on November 9, 2004, is known to have blood from Bandung. He got the line from his father's grandmother, where Zijlstra's father reportedly had half of Indonesia's blood and half of the Netherlands.

The 20-year-old is projected to strengthen the U-23 Indonesian national team in the 2026 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification which will be held in early September 2025.

Mauro's joining is expected to increase the strength of the front line of coach Gerald Vanenburg's team.
