Reality Club Introduces New Album Of Workshop Results In Bali And Recording In Bangkok
JAKARTA - After introducing single Quick! Love! and You'll Find Lovers Like You and Me, the Reality Club is preparing to inaugurate the launch of the fourth studio album with the title Who Knows Where Life Will Take You?.
VOI had the opportunity to hear the 13 tracks on the new Reality Club album through a hearing session held in Krapela, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta on Thursday, August 21.
Fathia Chia Izzati (vocals), Faiz Novascotia Saripudin (vocals, guitars), Nugi Wicaksono (bass), and Era Patigo (drums) seemed so enthusiastic about introducing all the tracks from the latest albums.
The album 'Who Knows Where Life Will Take You?' presents a relaxed atmosphere and indie rock sounds that resembles the debut album Reality Club supported by the ability and maturity gained from the experience of nine years together.
"If you look at it now, we make Never Get Better so we can put music in our own car; on What Do You Really Know?, we want to look cool; and at Reality Club Presents..., we want to prove to ourselves that we can bring various genres, collaborate with orchestrates and make music videos such as feature films," said Faiz.
"On this album, we are not trying to prove anything to anyone, including ourselves. That's why there is a resemblance to the first album," he added.
The process of working on this album is different. All personnel underwent a workshop session in Ubud, Bali for ten days. As a result, they were brought into the studio to be recorded in Bangkok, Thailand.
"At that time we thought, I think if we do everything in Jakarta, we won't get the vibes like that. Because if we are in Jakarta, we have to go back and forth and so on," said Faiz.
In Bangkok, we deliberately choose a studio that can live track. And this is the first time we have recorded a live album, "said Chia.
This album also involves several producers, namely Brad Oberhofer, Iga Massardi and Wisnu Ikhsantama.
Brad Oberhofer's involvement, who in fact is an indie musician from the US, is not without reason. The Reality Club is targeting to cooperate with producers from abroad.
I've heard of Brad Oberhofer's songs since he was in college. He is very unique and eccentric, an extraordinary musician and human being," said Faiz.
"He let the songs be more or less like his demo version, but the little things he added and the way he directed us really had an impact on his album as a whole," he said.
For information, the fourth studio album Reality Club entitled 'Who Knows Where Life Will Take You?' can be heard on various digital music platforms starting August 27.
