Government Proposes Adding One Ministry For Hajj And Umrah Affairs

JAKARTA - The government plans to propose a ministry to take care of Hajj and Umrah issues.

This was conveyed by the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi to reporters at the Merdeka Palace Complex, Jakarta, Thursday, August 21.

The Hajj and Umrah were previously managed by the Ministry of Religion, but were then handed over by the Hajj Organizing Body (BP) to be jointly carried out during the 2025 Hajj season.

In the following year's Hajj season, BP Haji will manage the implementation of the pilgrimage, including the Umrah pilgrimage.

Regarding the proposed change of BP Haji to become a ministry that manages Hajj and Umrah, according to Prasetyo Hadi, this is because the need because Saudi Arabia only coordinates with ministry officials.
