Indonesia Can Earn A Profit Of IDR 3.2 Billion Per Year Through The Bandar Space Project
JAKARTA Indonesia is expected to reap enormous profits if it manages to build a spaceport. This profit is estimated at hundreds of millions of US dollars per year.
Based on a study released by Deloitte this year, the state could reap a profit of up to 200 million US dollars (Rp 3.2 billion) if it succeeded in building a spaceport. Therefore, the project to build a launch pad facility is considered promising.
"So, we think that (projects like this) should be possible," said Chairman of the Indonesian Space Association (Ariksa) Adi Rahman Adiwoso. "In our thinking, this space economy (will become) a new economic sector, but multi-disciplinary."
As the new economic sector, Adi believes that space can be in line with academic interests, defense interests, and communication interests. Adi also encouraged the younger generation to pay more attention to the sector.

"In the study from Deloitte 2025, the increase in the space GDP, in Asia alone between 2025 and 2030, could be up to 100 billion US dollars (Rp1,632 trillion) GDP," Adi explained.
The Head of Ariksa also stated that Indonesia is estimated to have played the biggest role in improving the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Asia. Therefore, Indonesia needs to encourage the progress of the sector.
"If we don't carry out (the development of the space sector) ourselves, other people will make us objects, not the subject," said Adi. "It's time for us to see young people starting to be built (with their capabilities) in Indonesia."
