Suerez Doubts His Future At Inter Miami, But Wants To Retire With Messi
JAKARTA - Inter Miami striker Luis Suarez said he wanted to retire with his longtime teammate, Lionel Messi, before confirming that the future of each player does not depend on each other.
"I think we are both quite mature at the moment. Each of us will make decisions, whatever is right for each of us, taking into account our personal well-being."
"In my case, I will not make a decision (currently). I can tell you that I want to retire with him (Messi) because we've been talking about retiring together for years. It could happen."
"That could have happened, but it also depends on my contract extension. Each of us will make the right decisions at the right time," Suarez said.

Suarez and Messi's contract with Inter Miami expires at the end of the 2025 Major League Soccer season. Talks between the club and Messi for a contract extension are still ongoing, with each side looking to continue the relationship on and off the pitch.
Suarez insists that he wants to focus on the current rather than making decisions about the current future, before emphasizing his commitment to helping Inter Miami develop as a club.
"Well, actually I'm happy, I feel good physically, I feel like helping the team. If the club wants it, obviously we won't have a problem because nothing can be burdensome here."
"However, we are both on the same track, that Inter Miami continues to grow as a club. We continue to maintain the tradition of bringing good players here. The league continues to grow, that's important."
"When we have to make decisions between now and the end of the year, we never know. In football, we always have plans, sometimes going well, sometimes bad."
"However, what I have to do now is live a life of a moment, at Inter Miami well, after that we'll see," said the Uruguayan player.
Suarez contributed two Inter Miami goals in a 2-1 win over Tigres UANL in the League Cup quarter-finals on Thursday, August 21, 2025 WIB, at Chase Stadium.
Head coach Javier Mascherano did not field Messi in that match. Indeed, he has trained with the club separately from other team members, but the captain is still worried about Messi's fitness.
Messi returned from a minor muscle injury on Saturday, August 16, 2025, when he was substituted in a 3-1 win against LA Galaxy in the second half.
Despite scoring one goal and one assist, Mascherano said Messi still didn't feel 100 percent comfortable playing.
"Leo doesn't train with the group. He trains separately. The situation is a bit similar to the one I told a few days after the game, when he felt uncomfortable playing 45 minutes."
"However, he was not ruled out. He was not ruled out," Mascherano said.
Inter Miami won their first version of the League Cup in 2023, beating Nashville SC on penalties to lift trophies.
