Iran Launches Missiles Into Oman Bay In First Military Exercise Since War With Israel
JAKARTA - Iran's first military exercise since the end of the 12-day war with Israel involves launching missiles on targets at sea in the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean.
Iranian state television reports quoted from AP on Thursday, August 21, said Iranian naval ships fired cruise missiles at targets and used drones in open waters.
However, there was no live recording of the exercise that was broadcast on the television.
This military exercise titled "Resilient Strength 1404" is an attempt to show off Iran's post-war power which has caused Israel to destroy the air defense system and bomb nuclear facilities and sites of the country.
The Iranian Navy, which is estimated to consist of about 18,000 personnel, was untouched in the recent war with Israel.
The Iranian Navy, based in the port city of Bandar Abbas, has a patrol range in the Gulf of Oman, Indian Ocean, and the Kaspia Sea, and has generally handed over the Gulf of Arabia and its narrow estuary, the Strait of Hormuz.
With this military exercise taking place, Iran has increasingly emphasized it is ready to fight any Israeli attacks in the future.
