Sony Raises PS5 Console Prices In The US Due To Global Economic Challenges

JAKARTA - Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) officially announced an increase in prices for the PlayStation 5 console in the United States (US) starting August 21.

In his official announcement, Sony said that the decision was not easy. This step was taken in line with global economic challenges that still affect many industries.

Like many other global businesses, we continue to face challenging economic conditions. As a result, we have made difficult decisions to increase retail prices for the PlayStation 5 console in the US," said Isabelle Tomatois, Vice President, Global Marketing, Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Although the price of the console is rising, Sony insists that the price of the PlayStation 5 accessories remains the same, and there are no price changes for other markets outside the United States.

"The recommended retail price for PlayStation 5 accessories remains unchanged, and we have no announcement of price increases in other markets at this time," he explained further.

The PS5 console was first released in 2020 and has since become one of the most popular console game products in the world. Meanwhile, console prices in other countries, including Indonesia, are still the same.
