Dismantle The Myanmar-Thailand-Laos 'Golden Triangle' Network, West Java Police Seize 9 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine
The Directorate of Drugs (Ditnarkoba) of the West Java Police uncovered an international narcotics network called golden triangle or gold triangle by confiscating more than 9 kilograms (kg) of crystal methamphetamine throughout August 2025.
Director of the West Java Regional Police's Narcotics Director, Kombes Pol. Albert RD, said the international drug network consisted of three countries, namely Myanmar, Thailand, and Laos, which are members of the golden triangle.
"So currently there are two drug cartels in action. We can see from the evidence we got, this (shabu) has the characteristics of being wrapped in Chinese tea wrap. Last month we got it from the Golden Crescent network," said Albert in Bandung, Thursday, quoted by Antara.
Albert said that throughout August 2025, the police confiscated a number of drug evidence from four people who were named suspects and have now been detained.
"In August we have revealed for 9,825.26 grams of methamphetamine, 588 ecstasy pills, then 4,167.33 grams of marijuana, 5,645.32 grams of synthetic tobacco, 697.73 milliliters of synthetic tobacco seeds, then OKT (certain hard drugs) 148,383 pills, and 1,915 psychotropic substances," said Albert.
He explained that two drug cartels, gold triangles and golden centers, entered Indonesia by sea. Furthermore, the illicit goods were circulated by land to the city of Bandung.
"Because our country is an archipelagic country, 80 percent of this network enters by sea. Then the ship to ship, then the road to Bandung. We are all committed to eradicating drugs," he said.
Meanwhile, the Acting Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police, Kombes Pol. Irfan Nurmansyah, said that the disclosure of the network had saved tens of thousands of people from the dangers of drugs.
"From the disclosure, it is assumed that they have saved 35,024 people. The suspects are also threatened with a maximum sentence of death or life imprisonment," said Irfan.
