ImageIO Vulnerability, Apple Releases IOS Security Update 18.6.2 And IPadOS 18.6.2
JAKARTA - Apple released security updates for iOS 18.6.2 and iPadOS 18.6.2 on August 20, aimed at improving serious vulnerabilities in the ImageIO component potentially being hacked by hackers.
According to Apple's statement on its aid page, the company said that this security loophole allows malicious image files to cause memory corruption.
The company also recognizes reports that the vulnerability has been exploited in high-level attacks that are highly targeted at certain individuals.
"Apple is aware of reports that this issue may have been exploited in a very sophisticated attack on certain targeted individuals," Apple wrote.
Knowing this problem, the problem categorized as CVE-2025-44300 has been resolved through an increase in boundary checks (improved bounds checking).
"The issue of out-of-bounds write has been overcome by better boundary checks," the tech giant added.

Apple insists, in order to protect users, they will not disclose, discuss, or confirm security issues until the investigation is complete and repairs or releases are available.
