Rain Accompanied By Strong Winds, 2 Motorcycles Hit By Falling Trees In Cipayung, East Jakarta

JAKARTA - Two motorbikes parked down by fallen trees in the Cipayung area, East Jakarta due to heavy rains accompanied by strong winds hit the Jakarta area, on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, afternoon.

"Two motorbikes that were parked were hit by a fallen tree on Jalan Bambu Mas RT 005/RW 005, Bambu Apus Village, Cipayung this afternoon," said Head of the East Jakarta BPBD Regional Coordinator Task Force Ali Kojim.

There were no casualties or injuries in this incident, but both motorbikes suffered little damage.

"The loss was not there, only when it fell, the motorbike could be used again," said Ali.

Ali explained that the fallen tree report at the crime scene (TKP) was around 16.05 WIB. East Jakarta BPBD Korwil officers together with joint personnel went straight to the location for the evacuation process.

The handling involved two DKI Jakarta BPBD personnel and the Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling Officer (PPSU) of Bambu Apus Village. The handling process lasted about an hour and traffic returned to normal.

"The fallen tree was a mango tree with a height of 15 meters with a diameter of 20 centimeters (cm). At the beginning of the treatment, we did it at around 16.30 WIB. Then at 17.30 WIB it was completed," said Ali.

Ali appealed to residents to be more vigilant, especially when it rains heavily with the wind so as not to park their vehicles under large trees to avoid similar incidents.

Previously, as many as seven trees in a number of locations in East Jakarta fell during heavy rains accompanied by strong winds hit the area on Wednesday afternoon.

"A total of seven trees fell due to heavy rain and strong winds," said Head of the DKI Jakarta BPBD Data and Information Center (Kapusdatin), Mohamad Yohan when contacted in Jakarta.

Although it did not cause any casualties, the fallen tree until 17.45 WIB caused traffic to stall.
