Warehouse Seller In Semarang Cheated IDR 2 Billion By Syndicate From Jakarta

SEMARANG The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the Central Java Police uncovered a case of warehouse buying and selling fraud involving cross-city syndicates. Their action took place at a five-star hotel in Semarang and cost victims up to Rp2 billion.

Dirreskrimum Polda Central Java, Kombes Pol Dwi Subagio, said the three perpetrators were arrested, each with the initials YY alias Surya (62), HH alias Johan (55), and TS alias Chandra (52). Two other people, Steven and Lenny, are still at large and often move locations.

"Their mode is to pretend to be interested in buying the victim's warehouse, then offer the warehouse to another party with the promise of multiple profits. Victims who believe the persuasion of the perpetrators finally agreed to meet at a hotel," said Dwi Subagio, Wednesday (20/8/2025).

During the meeting, the victim was again tricked. Through a series of tricks, the victim handed over Rp2 billion in cash, with details of Rp1.2 billion in the first phase and Rp800 million in the second stage.

The three of them are part of a fraud syndicate that usually operates in Jakarta. In Semarang, they admitted that it was the first time they had acted and were immediately caught," he added.

The three suspects are now being held at the Central Java Regional Police. They were charged with Article 378 of the Criminal Code regarding fraud and/or Article 372 of the Criminal Code concerning embezzlement, with a maximum penalty of four years in prison. The police have also issued a wanted list (DPO) for the other two perpetrators.

The Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police, Kombes Pol Artanto, emphasized that his party was still hunting for Steven and Lenny. He reminded the public to be more vigilant in conducting large transactions.

"Don't easily believe the promises of unclear profits. Especially until handing over big money without legal guarantees. If you find a similar mode, immediately report it to the police station," he said.
