Kadin Proposes July 5 As Pancasila Economic Day
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) proposes that every July 5 be commemorated as Pancasila Economic Day and Constitutional Economic Day.
Deputy Chairperson of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Cooperatives and MSMEs Nurdin Halid explained that the 5th coincided with the founding day of PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk which was also founded by Soemitro, who is the grandfather of President Prabowo Subianto.
"Pak Sumitro is the people's economy, not the capital and liberal economy. We will make it the 5th as the Pancasila Economic Day," said Nurdin, quoted on Wednesday, August 20.
On the other hand, Nurdin assessed that the Pancasila economy was only implemented in the era of President Prabowo.
"We propose that there be Constitutional Economic Day, Pancasila Economic Day, so that this country, which was very liberal in previous years, tends to be a capital, has turned into a mutual cooperation economy, a constitutional economy, a Pancasila economy," continued Nurdin.
He added that another reason is the mandate of the 1945 Constitution which aims to advance public welfare, as well as the second and fifth precepts Pancasila, as well as Article 33 Paragraphs 1, 2, 3, and 4.
According to him, these articles have not been fully implemented in Indonesia.
The proposal will be discussed at the Kadin National Coordination Meeting on August 19-21.
