Russian Attack On Sumy Injures 14 People, Ukrainian PM: Russia Continues To Terrorism

A total of 14 people including one family with three children were injured in the Russian attack that occurred last night in the Sumy region, northern Ukraine.

The attack comes amid US President Donald Trump's intensive efforts to end Russia's war in Ukraine.

Russia launched 15 drones in an attack on the Okhtyrka region on Wednesday, August 20 in the morning.

The children who were injured in the attack that hit settlements in the city were 5 months, 4 years and 6 years old, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko wrote on X.

"Russia continues to cause fear through acts of terrorism across Ukraine, once again targeting the homes of their families and children who are sleeping," he said.

Russia has repeatedly emphasized that it does not attack civilians or civilian infrastructure.

Overall, Russia launched a total of 93 drones and two missiles to attack the country overnight. The Ukrainian air force crashed 62 unmanned aircraft and one missile, recording an attack on 20 locations.

The Ukrainian State Emergency Service reported a "massive drone strike" in the southern region ofTEN, stating one person was injured and a major fire broke out in fuel and energy facilities.

Izmail district officials in the lecherous region said the city's port infrastructure was damaged.

Russia has stepped up its attack on Ukraine's energy sector this week.

One attack sparked a fire at an oil depot belonging to the state oil company Azerbaijan, SOCAR, while another attack damaged gas transportation facilities in the central area of Poltava.

Russia has often attacked oil depots and fuel storage facilities since the first days of its full-scale invasion in February 2022.

The Ministry of Energy said Ukraine's energy facilities had been attacked 2.900 times since March 2025.
