Indonesian Food and Agriculture Organization (BPDP) Aims For National Palm Oil Production To Reach 60 Million Tons By 2030

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP) is targeting Indonesian crude palm oil (CPO) production to reach 60 million tons by 2030.

BPDP President Director Eddy Abdurrachman stated that this target was set in line with the increasing demand for CPO for the food sector, biofuel (biodiesel), and the oleochemical industry.

"By 2030, the target is for CPO production to reach 60 million tons, which can be used to meet the needs of food, oleochemicals, and biofuels," Eddy said at the Signing of the Cooperation Agreement for the 2025 Palm Oil Plantation Human Resource Education Scholarship on Wednesday, August 20.

Eddy explained that Indonesia's current CPO production volume is still around 50 million tons per year, so additional efforts are needed to achieve this production target in the next five years.

He added that in addition to meeting domestic demand, increased production also aims to maintain export performance. This is important because levies from palm oil exports are the primary source of funding for BPDP programs.

"Because exports are crucial for BPDP, the funds we collect come from export levies. So if exports decline, our levies also decrease, reducing BPDP's ability to fund programs," he explained.

Eddy explained that as a strategic step to support increased production, BPDP is also implementing a human resource development program in the palm oil sector, which includes providing educational scholarships and technical training.

"Our obligation is to improve the knowledge, skills, professionalism, independence, and competitiveness of plantation human resources, both technically, managerially, and entrepreneurially," he said.
