Pramono Explains The Reasons For Not Passing All Firefighters In The Recruitment Of Firefighters

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) is in the process of recruiting firefighters (damkar) for the formation of 1,000 people this year.

It turned out that not all members of the Fire Volunteers (Redkar) were accepted to undergo the next stage. Many of them did not pass the administrative selection.

In fact, this volunteer community organization member clearly has experience in tackling fires. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung explained the reason.

"Why are not all volunteers recruited? Actually they were recruited. There is only a high limit. This time it is limited to 165 centimeters," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, August 20.

Pramono emphasized that this minimum requirement for height must be applied in the recruitment of firefighters, considering that this is regulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Home Affairs (Permendagri) Number 86 of 2022 concerning Education and Training for Fire and Rescue Apparatus.

"This is in accordance with Permendagri. That is what causes not all volunteers to be able to meet these requirements," explained Pramono.

When the registration process opened, the Gulkarmat Service noted that 24,405 people applied as firefighters. It is recorded that almost half or 45 percent of firefighters are residents outside Jakarta.

Then, in the administrative selection, 83 percent of applicants were declared dead.

"Yesterday, 17 percent of them passed the administration and most of them are residents of Jakarta. Almost the majority of them are Jakarta. Because for non-Jakarta residents there are additional requirements, namely having to have a B1 SIM," he explained.

In the process of recruiting firefighters after the administrative selection, registration documents and requirements were carried out on August 19-22 2025, and the announcement of document proof on August 25.

Applicants who pass the administrative selection will undergo physical tests from August 26 to September 17, 2025.

Physical tests will be carried out by Kodam Jaya, located at Brigif 1/Jaya Sakti, Kalisari, East Jakarta. At this stage, applicants will undergo a physical fitness test A (run 12 minutes), freshness of Jasmani B (pull up, sit up, push up, shuttle run), posture (height and weight, body anatomy, appearance), and 25 meters of swimming.

After that, the DKI Gulkarmat Service will announce 1,000 applicants who passed the selection on September 18, 2025, followed by the signing of the work contract on October 1, 2025.
