Using A Tourism Visa But This Egyptian Citizen Is Open Donation And Bribes In Mimbar, Immediately Deported

The Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections deported a foreign citizen from Egypt who abused residence permits by being a speaker for religious activities in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan.

Head of the Class I Immigration Office of Non-TPI Palangka Raya Imam Santoso said the foreigner with the initials IAIM (27) entered Indonesia using a tourist visa, but it turned out that several times he was a speaker for religious activities and collected donations.

"Which one has not received permission from the relevant agencies," said Imam in an official statement received in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, August 20.

This case began when Palangka Raya Immigration officers received a public report regarding the banner of a study activity or lecture at a mosque in Palangka Raya featuring an Egyptian foreigner with the initials IAIM.

"Then, Immigration officers carried out infiltration to participate in the religious activity in question and provide security to foreigners who were speakers at the study activities," he said.

After the examination, immigration found that the IAIM turned out to be using a tourist visa. This is different from the activities he did while in Indonesia.

"Tourism visas should only be used for tourism or recreation activities while in Indonesia. The prohibition of tourism visa holders is very clear, where foreigners are prohibited from being speakers in an activity because for religious/rani activities there is already another visa index that accommodates these activities," explained Imam.

On that basis, IAIM was declared proven guilty of violating immigration regulations, namely abusing visas or residence permits as stipulated in Article 122 letter a of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration.

The foreigner was then deported on Tuesday, August 19 via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, to the end of Cairo, Egypt.

Imam said that his party will continue to tighten supervision of the activities of foreigners in the Central Kalimantan region, especially those included in the scope of the work area of the Palangka Raya Immigration Office.

"We urge the public to immediately report to the Palangka Raya Immigration Office if they find the activities of foreigners who are suspicious or not in accordance with the provisions of Immigration," he said.
