It Is Said That The DPR Denies: Inosentius Is Our Candidate, Legally By Law
JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI, Habiburokhman, denied the assumption that the sole candidate for judges of the Constitutional Court (MK), Inosentius Samsul, was a 'deposit candidate' from the DPR.
He emphasized that Inosentius' candidacy is fully the constitutional right of the DPR which is carried out through a legal mechanism and in accordance with the law.
"If you say it's a deposit, it's not a deposit anymore. This is indeed our candidate, an official proposal from the DPR. In accordance with the provisions in the Constitutional Court Law, the DPR is indeed given the right to propose a constitutional judge," said Habiburokhman at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 20.
For information, Inosentius Samsul currently serves as the main expert official at the DPR RI Expert Board and is the only name proposed by the DPR to replace Judge MK Arief Hidayat who will retire soon.
Habiburokhman explained that the screening process was carried out through a talent scoring mechanism or a search for potential figures, not just waiting for open registration.
'Talent scouting is a very common mechanism. We also encourage the KPK's Pansel, the Judicial Commission's Pansel, and others to actively attract figures who have capacity. So if there are figures who don't want to register, we encourage them to participate. This is part of the active role of the institution," said the Gerindra Party politician.
He added that the fit and proper test process for Inosentius Samsul had been carried out in an accountable, transparent and open manner.
"We have completed the process. Furthermore, the results of this feasibility test will be submitted to the leadership of the DPR and then taken to the plenary meeting," said Habiburokhman.
