Facilitate River Dredging, Pramono Will Expand Lifting Bridges In Villages

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung revealed that his party will increase the construction of lifting bridges in Jakarta villages. One of the things that has been built is the Gandaria Inter-Campung Bridge (JAK), Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.

The lifting bridge in Gandaria, which is now in the spotlight, was built by the South Jakarta Highways Sub-dept. This bridge has a length of 9 meters with a width of 1.5 meters.

"For the bridge in Gandaria, coincidentally before the construction started, we consulted with us and indeed in Jakarta we will build such bridges," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, August 20.

Pramono assessed that the lifting bridge is a solution for the DKI Provincial Government which is intensifying river dredging or river as a flood prevention program.

When dredging is carried out, the bridge can be separated into two parts so that heavy equipment can enter to dredge mud in waterways in densely populated residential areas.

"Why was it made? So that the small excavators can enter rivers that are densely populated. Thus, the dredging is now being carried out in Tanah Abang and so on, including in Gandaria, so for that we will increase," explained Pramono.

Some time ago, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno admitted that there were obstacles faced by the DKI Provincial Government in tackling the problem of flooding in dense settlements.

This is in response to the floods that inundated the Kebon Pala area, Jatinegara, East Jakarta which has occurred repeatedly in the last few days.

"Of course, the level of regional difficulties (in dealing with floods) varies. In small areas, it is technical that our conveyance equipment or druk equipment entering there is extraordinary difficulty," said Rano at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, August 11.

The density of settlements, Rano acknowledged, makes it difficult to access heavy equipment for mud dredges in waterways. Even if the equipment manages to enter, dredging cannot be carried out optimally because there are bridges that hinder the movement of the equipment.

"It's almost impossible here on average. It's hard to get into the river, he has to go out again, move to other areas. This is very difficult," he said.

Rano assessed that the connecting bridges that crossed the river in Jakarta needed to be designed with the function of being loose. The shape of such a bridge is built in other countries such as the Netherlands.

"In this Netherlands, the bridge has the function of opening and closing. For what? For example, we dredge here, want to move, this is the bridge being built. So the beko (heavy equipment) can move there," he said.
