DPR Supports President Prabowo To Remove Tantiem: Commissioner Of BUMN Is Inappropriate To Get Bonuses

JAKARTA - Member of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Rivqy Abdul Halim, supports President Prabowo Subianto's move to abolish the provision of bonuses for commissioners of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN). According to him, this policy is important to fix the incentive system in SOEs and ensure that commissioners really work for the advancement of state-owned companies.

"The BUMN commissioner must focus on monitoring and improving the company's performance. Without a real contribution, it is not appropriate to receive bonus bonuses," said Rivqy, Wednesday, August 20.

Rivqy emphasized that SOEs must be managed in an accountable, efficient, and public interest-oriented manner. Therefore, the member of the commission in charge of trade affairs and BUMN assesses that the provision of bonuses should only be done if the company actually scores positive performance.

"So if the company loses, the board of directors also doesn't deserve bonuses. Bonuses are only given if the performance is positive and the company provides real benefits for the state and society," said the legislator from the East Java IV electoral district.

Rivqy also supports Prabowo's plan to cut the number of SOE commissioners to make them slimmer and more effective. Thus, he hopes that the performance of SOEs will be more agile.

"The reduction in the number of commissioners is the right step. The number of commissioners does not need too much," said Rivqy.

Previously, President Prabowo in his speech at the DPR Plenary Meeting I for the 2025/2026 Session Year and the submission of the 2026 RAPBN stated that he would remove tantiem and streamline the number of SOE commissioners.

Prabowo stated that he did not understand the purpose of tantiem. According to him, tantiem is only a trick by the BUMN commissioner. He even mentioned that there are commissioners who only meet once a month but receive bonuses of up to IDR 40 billion a year.

Based on the Regulation of the State Minister of SOEs Number PER-02/MBU/2009, tantiem is income which is an award given to members of the Board of Directors, Board of Commissioners, and Supervisory Board of SOEs every year if the company earns a profit, or is given to the Board of Directors and Board of Commissioners of the Company in the event of an increase in Persero performance, although it still suffers losses.
