Promising Protection, Badanas Asks For Rice Supply Padi Mill To The Market

JAKARTA - The National Food Agency (Bapanas) reminds rice milling business actors and rice traders to consistently fill supplies in traditional and modern markets amid fluctuations in rice prices.

"The National Food Agency together with the National Police Food Task Force asked rice pangolins to continue producing rice and supply it to traditional markets and modern markets by keeping the quality requirements as stated in the packaging label," said Head of Badanas Arief Prasetyo Adi in an official statement, Tuesday, August 19.

The government ensures that business actors who obey the rules will receive protection.

"The government invites rice mills and rice entrepreneurs not to withdraw or hold the existing stock. Still selling consistently, but the price must be in accordance with the terms of quality and applicable regulations. As said the Coordinating Minister for Food, if it does not violate and obey the rules, the government will definitely protect it," he continued.

Arief emphasized the importance of compliance with the quality standards of rice in circulation. According to him, the difference in the price of packaged rice and bulk, one of which is influenced by packaged costs (packaging).

"Today what needs to be repaired is the person who produces rice in packaging, it must be in accordance with the packaging. If you want to sell bulk rice, which does not have packaging, but it must be adjusted according to the quality, go ahead. Because one of the price components of a rice is in the packaging. So the price can indeed be cheaper, for example Rp. 14,900, it means that the price may be Rp. 14,500-Rp. 14,600 without packaging," he explained.

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that rice inflation has continued to increase since May 2025, from 0.20 percent to 1.35 percent in July, the highest so far this year, although it is still lower than 2024 which reached 5.32 percent.

However, based on the monitoring of the Bapanas Food Price Panel, the average price of medium and premium rice began to decline gradually as of August 19. The decline in the price of medium rice in Zone 1 and 2 was recorded at 0.26 percent and 0.25 percent respectively compared to the previous week, while premium rice fell 0.21 percent and 0.08 percent.

To maintain price stability, the government has distributed Government Rice Reserves (CBP) through two programs, namely Stabilization of Supply and Food Prices (SPHP) and rice food assistance.

As of August 19, the realization of the SPHP has reached 38,800 tons, with daily distributions soaring to 5,100 tons on August 15, up more than five times compared to the previous week.

In addition, Bulog also distributed rice food assistance to 18.27 million beneficiary families with a total allocation of 365.5 thousand tons. As of August 19, the realization had reached 93.77 percent or around 342.7 thousand tons to more than 17.1 million families.
