KPK: Gratification Is Haram When Related To Positions
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that gratification should not be accepted by state officials if it is related to work matters. However, it is different if the gift is not related to work.
This was conveyed by the Deputy for Community Participation of the KPK, Wawan Wardiana, while filling a webinar entitled 'Integrity & Anti-Corruption: From Awareness to Habits' at the Ministry of Law (Kemenkum), Jakarta, Tuesday, August 19.
"There are also many that are lawful rather than haram," said Wawan at the event.
"There is only one thing that is forbidden, if we are ASN (state civil servants), as civil servants, what is illegal is accepting any form. This form of gift or any money related to our duties and authorities," he continued.

Wawan said that state officials could actually give or receive gifts. "If our parents give us money, do we accept it or not? Yes, accept it," he said.
"Our brother gave us provisions, did he accept it? Yes, thank you there. One brother," said Wawan.
However, state officials or ASN must dare to refuse if they receive gifts related to their duties. Because, this practice can lead to a criminal act of corruption in the form of receiving gratuities.
The anti-corruption commission since the beginning of 2025 has received 2,617 gratification reports. The value deposited to the state until last June reached Rp1.78 billion.
"If other people give us something because of their position, then it must be rejected. That is what is called gratification," concluded Wawan.
