For 4 Days, Police Turn Back 104,370 Vehicles Indicated By Travelers
JAKARTA - During the four days of the implementation of the homecoming ban sealing scheme have been more than a hundred thousand vehicles that are reversed. The vehicles were acted upon at 381 checkpoints.
"Preventive activities to this day have turned the 104,370 vehicles into part of preventing homecoming activities", Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Brig. Gen. Rusdi Hartono told reporters on Monday, May 10.
The crackdown on hundreds of thousands of vehicles refers to the Circular Letter of the COVID-19 Control Task Force Number 13 of 2021. The goal is to reduce the number of COVID-19 spread.
"We all reflect after Eid al-Fitr 2020. Where the number of positive confirmed cases increased by 93 percent and the death rate was 63 percent after homecoming", he said.
In addition, the implementation of Operation Ketupat 2021 with this sealing scheme will be valid from May 6 to 17. Thousands of joint TNI-Police teams and related institutions were deployed to implement this policy.
"The number of personnel involved nationally as many as 166,734 people, consisting of 94,170 police personnel and 13,332 TNI personnel, the rest are related agencies such as the Transportation Service, as well as potential in the community", said Rusdi.
