Boni Hargens: Anyone Who Becomes Chairman Of ILUNI, Must Strengthen UI, Alumni And The Nation

JAKARTA - Prospective Chairperson of the University of Indonesia Alumni Association (ILUNI UI) 2025-2028, Boni Hargens emphasized that whoever is elected as General Chair of ILUNI UI must have a commitment to strengthen UI, alumni and the Indonesian nation. According to Boni, IlUNI's existence must be beneficial for both itself but also especially for the nation and state, including supporting steps to realize and care for a bright Indonesia.

This was conveyed by Boni after meeting the Chancellor of UI Heri Hermansyah along with 6 other ILUNI UI Ketum candidates at Plataran Darmawangsa, Jakarta, Sunday, August 17.

"So whoever wins will have to think about UI and also alumni and Indonesia as our big umbrella, our home. So that's the point. Because of these seven candidates, there are many choices, but all of them are directed so that at least their moral ideas or commitments lead to taking sides with the interests of UI and this nation," said Boni Hargens after the meeting.

Boni Hargens also reiterated its vision and mission to make ILUNI UI a laboratory of ideas to oversee the governments of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka to realize a sovereign, prosperous and bright Indonesia. According to Boni, UI alumni can be directly involved in solving basic problems in society, such as unemployment, poverty, and underprivileged education.

"Well, we hope that later this UI graduate, he will not only be part of the job, but he can also create jobs, support the government in creating general welfare," added Boni.

"Now we must have optimism that our government will continue to work well in the future, so we, especially ILUNI as part of the civil society must support this big dream, must support this optimism so that everyone has hope that Indonesia will definitely be bright in the future," Boni added.

On that occasion, UI Chancellor Heri Hermansyah said Boni Hargens and 6 other candidates for the Head of ILUNI UI were UI assets that had raised UI, alumni and the Indonesian nation. According to Heri, ILUNI UI customers are useful figures and have contributed to UI, alumni and the nation.

"Of course, there are 7 contestants for the ILUNI UI General Chair. And of course they are all assets of the University of Indonesia, useful alumni, promising, have a wide network, have willingness to advance universities and also the alumni ecosystem," said Heri.

Heri is also optimistic that whoever is elected as Chairman of the ILUNI UI 2025-2028 will raise UI, alumni and the nation. Especially, he said, to oversee a number of priority programs such as UI's endowment funds and the development of the UI region to be productive.

"Giving a big impact to help universities, as well as helping alumni for vertical and horizontal mobility, namely there is a priority program for UI's endowment funds, there is a priority program for developing the UI area to be more productive which in the end we can help our students who will later become our alumni become more empowered, more comfortable with various access to education that supports them more and they can also excel and get access to education without worrying about UKT costs," concluded Heri.
