Blora Regent Calls The Burned People's Well Still Not Legal

JAKARTA - Blora Regent, Arief Rohman, regrets that there are still people's oil drilling activities without permission that ignore the safety of residents.

He conveyed this when he visited the location of the community oil well fire in Hamlet Gendono, Gandu Village, Bogorejo District, Monday.

The land does belong to residents, but this is an oil well for the community that is not yet legal. If you want to operate, of course there are conditions and permits. We really regret it because the location of the well is behind the residents' houses, so it is prone to danger. You should pay attention to the security and safety aspects," said Regent Arief quoting Antara.

The explosion and fire incident claimed the lives of three people, while the other two suffered serious burns.

Responding to this, the Regent appealed to the public to refrain and no longer carry out mining activities without a permit.

"I urge the public to refrain first. Manage the permit first, because in Permen 14 about people's oil wells the conditions have been regulated. If there is a permit, then it can operate," he continued.

Arief added that his party had coordinated with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Acting Director General of Oil and Gas, SKK Migas, and the Governor of Central Java to handle the incident.

"We ask that the oil wells here be temporarily stopped, while waiting for further developments. Currently, we are working together to extinguish the fire," he explained.

The Regent also said that two victims of burns had been referred to hospitals in Yogyakarta for intensive care.

"In addition to the three who died, there were two other victims who were seriously burned. We have referred both of them to Jogja to get more optimal treatment," he said.

Furthermore, he appealed to residents who live near the location of the fire to temporarily evacuate. This is to anticipate further risks, because the fire has not yet been successfully extinguished.

"Since yesterday we have coordinated with local residents to evacuate first, in order to avoid things that are not desirable due to this fire," concluded Regent Arief.
