President Zelenskyy Flies To Washington, Ukraine Hit By Russian Missiles
JAKARTA - Russian airstrikes in residential areas in Kharkiv killed three people, including a toddler, and injured 17 people.
Currently Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is in Washington, USA, to meet President Donald Trump who urged Kyiv to reach an agreement to end the war Moscow started.
Reportedly a drone strike killed a two-year-old boy in Ukraine's second-largest city on Monday morning, August 18, following a ballistic missile attack the night before.
The number of injured victims as a result of the Kharkiv attack "continues to increase", continued Synehubov.
On Telegram, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said two people were killed and 17 injured in both attacks, including six children aged six to 17 years.
"A woman has just been rescued from the rubble: she is still alive," Terekhov said in a post on Monday morning, warning many more may be trapped under the rubble.
Kharkiv, in northeastern Ukraine near the border with Russia, has been the target of routine Russian drone and missile attacks since Moscow launched a massive invasion in February 2022.
Previous ballistic missile attacks in the city destroyed about 1,000 windows, said Synehubov. Some residents had to be evacuated, Ukraine's state emergency services said on Telegram.
Witnesses Reuters saw medics handling residents on the road and rescue teams checking damage to residential buildings.

Reuters was unable to independently verify the weapons used by Russia.
