The Fate Of 4 Ukrainian Regions When Trump Demands Zelenskyy 'Syerah' To Russia
JAKARTA - Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly made several concessions related to the "land exchange" he has sought. Ukraine is now being demanded by US President Donald Trump to make an agreement regarding the territory submitted to Russia including a ban on NATO joining.
Neither Putin nor any figure in the Russian government has shown any signs of resigning from Moscow's maximal demands requiring the four regions to be handed over to its control.
On Sunday, August 17 evening local time, Trump gave his message about the concession he thought had to be given by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Trump said Ukraine should give up on regaining Russia's illegally annexed Crimea in 2014.
Trump continued Ukraine should also agree not to join NATO.
Also being discussed are Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia, and Kherson, four Ukrainian territories illegally annexed by Russia in 2023.
Luhansk is the only predominantly occupied region of Russia. Ukraine has failed to seize the main fort city belt in Donetsk.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that his country's warline against Russia today should be the basis for peace negotiations.
"We need real negotiations, which means we can start from the point where the front line is now," Zelenskyy said.
Zelenskyy spoke ahead of a virtual meeting with European leaders and before he traveled to Washington to meet with Donald Trump following the meeting of the US leader with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday.
Zelenskyy reiterated that a ceasefire would need to be held so that the final deal could be negotiated.
"It is important for Washington to be with us," said the Ukrainian president.

Zelenskyy will be accompanied by several European allies for negotiations on Monday, August 18 with Trump.
He said Ukraine was not aware of all the demands Putin made at the meeting with Trump.
But according to him it will take a long time to talk about it and this is impossible to do under "armed pressure".
