Indonesian Diaspora In England And Ireland Celebrate RI's 80th Anniversary With Meriah
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ambassador to Britain and Ireland, Desra Percaya, said that the people of the Indonesian diaspora welcomed the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia with great enthusiasm, even though it was scattered in various big cities in the two countries.
According to him, the spirit of celebration is maintained because the diaspora hold independent activities in their respective cities. This is done so that they do not need to travel long distances or spend a lot of money just to attend the Indonesian Embassy in London.
"Our residents hold celebrations in various regions, ranging from Southampton, Liverpool, Manchester, Dublin (Ireland), to Belfast in Northern Ireland," Ambassador Desra was quoted as saying by ANTARA.
He added that Independence Day has always been an important moment that the Indonesian people have been waiting for, both students and professionals. This is a form of their love and pride for Indonesia," he said.

Not only ceremonies, the commemoration of the Indonesian Independence Day in England was also colored by various typical competitions in the country, such as sack racing, marble racing, and soccer and volleyball matches. Meanwhile, the Indonesian Embassy in London will also hold a flag-raising ceremony at Wisma Nusantara.
Ambassador Desra also expressed his gratitude for the implementation of the August 17 ceremony in London which took place in sunny weather, even though the air temperature was in the range of 14'18 degrees Celsius.
This year's commemoration of Indonesian Independence carries the theme 'United Sovereign, People of Prosperous, Advanced Indonesia.' The theme reflects the spirit of national unity and optimism in facing the future.
In Jakarta, President Prabowo Subianto directly leads the Proclamation Seconds ceremony at the Merdeka Palace. In addition, a number of agendas were also held to enliven Indonesia's 80th Anniversary, including the Red and White Flag Order and the text of the Proclamation, People's Party, and the United Independence Carnival.
