ASEAN Foundation Launches Free AI Training Platform

JAKARTA - The ASEAN Foundation officially launched AI Class ASEAN, an online platform supported by Google.org, to equip the younger generation of knowledge about the inclusive and responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) adoption in the ASEAN region.

This platform is part of AI Ready ASEAN, a 2.5-year regional program launched in February 2025 which was realized thanks to a grant from Google.org worth US $ 5 million or around Rp. 81 billion.

With the target of increasing the skills of more than 5.5 million learners, the presence of this platform is expected to be a major step in advancing AI literacy in Southeast Asia.

This platform will provide free training through 70 locally adapted modules. Supported by AI-based chatbots, discussion forums, and live translation, AI Class ASEAN provides information about AI that is easily accessible and relevant.

"AI Class ASEAN presents opportunities, inclusion, and joint progress that will transform ASEAN into a more resilient, knowledgeable, and increasingly connected region with each other," said the Executive Director of the ASEAN Foundation, Piti Angnam, quoted on Sunday, August 17.

In Indonesia, this program is implemented by local implementing partners (LIP) namely Bebras Indonesia, Ruangguru Foundation, MAFINDO, Kaizen Collaborative Impact Foundation, and Coding Bee Academy.

These partners have collaborated with local education schools and institutions to introduce the basic AI concept and support the development of digital literacy among students, educators, and parents.

By expanding access locally and adapting it to community needs, Google.org seeks to build a generation capable of critically, creatively, and with full readiness.
