Reluctant To Commodate The Old Faction Assessed As The Cause Of The Munaslub Issues Of The Golkar Party

JAKARTA The political observer of the Citra Institute, Efriza, assessed that the issue of the Golkar Party's Extraordinary National Conference (Munaslub) was caused by Bahlil Lahadalia who was reluctant to accommodate the old factions within the banyan party.

The Golkar Party as one of the big and old political parties in Indonesia, has many factions in it. Well, the issue of Munaslub is used as a means of pressure by internal groups to increase their bargaining position in leadership contestation," he said, Sunday, August 17, 2025.

He saw symptoms where the senior group of politicians in the Golkar Party did not like Bahlil and his leadership style, because during the current administration of President Prabowo Subianto, he still accommodated the political interests of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.

Therefore, the issue of the munaslub is very likely to be used as a tool to force renegotiation in political compromise. "So, the push of the Munaslub could not be just to replace Bahlil, but a maneuver of the factions trying to push in so that their interests are accommodated under Bahlil's leadership," said Efriza.

"Most likely, the old factions want to consolidate again, because so far they feel they have not been given enough space in determining the direction of the party," he continued.

Efriza suspects that the old factions feel that Bahlil, who was not a central figure before him, will be a bad precedent if he continues to be allowed to lead the Golkar Party. "Because his leadership is considered to endanger the Golkar Party, the issue of the munaslub is a means to challenge the leadership and strength of Bahlil," he said.
