Enthusiastic Passengers Rise KRL Bringing Red And White Attributes To Enliven RI's Anniversary

JAKARTA - The atmosphere of the celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) was felt in the KRL Commuter Line series, Sunday morning.

Many passengers seemed enthusiastic about crowding the carriage while carrying the Red and White attributes, ranging from small flags, headbands, to nationalist T-shirts.

Since this morning, the stations in Jabodetabek have been crowded with residents who want to go to Jakarta, especially the National Monument (Monas) area, which is the center of the celebration of Indonesian Independence.

Many passengers come with their families wearing all red and white clothes, so the atmosphere on the train feels lively like a people's party.

"Every year I usually invite children to take the KRL to Monas. It feels different when riding with other residents, especially when everyone uses red and white attributes, it's really fun to see," said one Bekasi resident named Shalma (31), ANTARA, Sunday, August 17, 2025.

You can see that the number of passengers increases compared to normal days. Even though it is crowded, the atmosphere in the series remains conducive.

Every now and then passengers can be heard singing the national anthem and the independence chants, adding to the spirit of celebration.

For some residents, this opportunity is not just a trip to Jakarta, but also a simple way to express love for the country.

"On the KRL, it was crowded while raising the flag made me proud. The momentum on August 17 should be celebrated with great fanfare, the children just saw that they were happy to be a new experience," said Sahma.

The same thing was said by a resident of Jatinegara, East Jakarta named Anton (43). According to Anton, the enthusiasm and attributes of the Red and White that flew along the KRL journey became a symbol of community togetherness and nationalism.

"We have to be excited, we have to teach our children about togetherness, nationalism, August 17th, it must be different than usual days. Red and White should be everywhere if the momentum is like this," said Anton.

Anton also appreciated the government and the railways for giving a special price of Rp80 on independence day.

"Alhamdulillah, we also appreciate that the government and the train will provide discounts, so taking the KRL is only Rp80 because Indonesia's 80th anniversary is also 80, yes, this is interesting," said Anton.

In order to enliven the Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, the Ministry of Transportation and the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta together with railway operators present a special tariff discount program, which is Rp80.

This special tariff applies to all Jabodetabek KRL travel services, Jabodebek LRT, Jakarta LRT and Jakarta MRT on August 17-18, 2025.

Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia in 2025 has the theme "United Sovereign, People of Prosperous, Advanced Indonesia". The theme reflects the spirit of nationality that continues to be maintained as the foundation for moving forward to the future.
