JAKARTA - In order to secure the peak of the commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence on Sunday, Polda Metro Jaya has prepared a number of traffic engineering schemes.

"The traffic flow engineering will start in the morning during the flag-raising ceremony at the State Palace," said Dirlantas Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Police Komarudin in Jakarta, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, August 16.
He said the series of heirloom flag carnivals and text of the proclamation from the Monas area to the Palace would pass Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, Jalan Veteran 3 and Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat on the east side.

Road closures will be implemented situationally according to the activity schedule. At its peak at 11.00 WIB, a people's party will be held in the Monas area which is estimated to be attended by around 100 thousand people.
"A number of roads in the Merdeka area will certainly be crowded with masses so that traffic engineering will continue to be adjusted to conditions in the field," he said.

Komarudin also appealed to the public to take advantage of public transportation. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has also set a special tariff for public transportation on August 17-18 of IDR 80.
The parking bag is very limited. "We also prohibit illegal parking attendants who can hinder traffic circulation around Monas," he said.
In addition, in the evening a carnival and people's party will be held with five entertainment stages ranging from Monas, Sarinah, HI Roundabout, Dukuh Atas to Sampoerna Strategic.
Carnival will cross Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Jalan MH Thamrin, to Jalan Sudirman to Senayan.
"Starting at 19.00 WIB, traffic flow will be diverted. Only public vehicles such as Transjakarta are allowed to pass," said Komarudin.
Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Police Susatyo P. Condro added that thousands of personnel would be alerted in the Merdeka Jaya Operation.
Security is carried out openly and behind closed doors, anticipating various potential vulnerabilities ranging from illegal parking attendants, pickpockets to missing children.
"We have deployed personnel along the carnival from Monas to Sampoerna Strategic. We have prepared all scenarios, both for low to high threats, so that people can enjoy people's parties safely and comfortably," Susatyo.
The peak of the series of celebrations will be closed with fireworks in the HI Roundabout area. The police hope that the community will remain orderly, follow the officers' directions and use public transportation so that the celebration of the 80th Indonesian Independence Day runs smoothly.
