Mayweather Ready For Comeback To Professional Boxing, Target Saunders And McGregor As Opponents
JAKARTA - Floyd Mayweather is considering a comeback to professional boxing against Conor McGregor.
The American has a sensational 50-0 record during his career where his last competitive match was against The Notorious in 2017.
Since then, the 44-year-old boxer has received a big payday from an exhibition match against Tenshin Nasukawa in 2018. He will also have a second exhibition bout against Logan Paul on June 6.
However, a source from Mayweather's camp said that Money - his nickname - is considering returning to the professional ring after a four-year break - and wants a rematch with the UFC star.
Speaking to The Sun, the insider said: "Floyd is considering a return to professional boxing and wants to fight Billy Joe Saunders.
"After fighting Logan Paul, he was eager to beat his brother Jake. Then he hopes to fight Conor McGregor next year.
"But he doesn't just want to do this kind of exhibition match."
One fighter Mayweather considers is Billy Joe Saunders, who has an unbeaten record of 30 fights.
The source added: "He is considering Billy Joe and has been in talks to fight him if he (Saunders) beats Canelo. Remember Floyd is the only fighter who ever defeated Canelo.
"Floyd has always kept himself in top shape so it won't be hard for him to come back."
McGregor, meanwhile, has endured a difficult performance in which he has won only one of three UFC fights since facing Mayweather in the boxing ring. The most recent came in January when he lost to Dustin Poirier.
The Notorious has tried to get attention from Mayweather by denouncing Money's recent fight with Jake Paul. Will the gayung greet? Let's wait for the next update.
