Prabowo Calls Article 33 Of The National Economic Fort, PKB: This Constitutional Mandate Must Be Implemented

JAKARTA - The chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) faction of the DPR RI, Jazilul Fawaid, expressed his full support for President Prabowo Subianto's statement which emphasized that Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution was a bulwark of the national economy. According to him, this article must really be applied by all elements of the nation.

Jazilul emphasized that Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution must be the main basis in managing natural resources and regulating the economy for the greatest prosperity of the people.

"President Prabowo is right, Article 33 is a national economic bulwark. The mandate of this constitution must really be applied and supported by all parties, both the government, the business world, and the community," Jazilul told reporters, Saturday, August 16.

Jazilul assessed that the application of Article 33 would consistently strengthen economic sovereignty and prevent the dominance of foreign interests that were detrimental to the nation. He stressed that the Indonesian economy was built on the principle of kinship, not conglomeration.

According to him, the principles contained in the article, namely that the economy is prepared as a joint effort based on the principles of kinship, state control over important production branches, and utilization of natural resources for the people are relevant guidelines to answer current global challenges.

"We must ensure that every economic policy sided with the people, not only on the growth of numbers, but also on equitable welfare," he said.

Jazilul also invited all elements of the nation to work together to strengthen the implementation of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution. "So that the ideals of independence in realizing social justice can really be realized," he concluded.

Previously, President Prabowo said that some considered Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution irrelevant, even though the article was a bulwark to protect the nation's economy.

This was conveyed by Prabowo in his speech at the 2025 MPR annual session in Senayan, Friday, August 15, yesterday.

"There are irregularities that the economic system mandated by the 1945 Constitution, especially in Article 33 paragraphs 1, 2 and 3, we have ignored it. As if the verses in the article are irrelevant in our modern lives," said President Prabowo.
