OPPO Leaks Find X9 Ultra Reveals Revolutionary Camera Improvement

JAKARTA - A recent leak shows that the OPPO Find X9 Ultra will present a revolutionary camera system with a major 200MP sensor. The Chinese-made phone is also rumored to have a much larger telephoto periscope sensor with "ultra-wide openness," allowing photos with better performance in light-silient conditions and opaque background effects that look more professional.

The competition for smartphone cameras is heating up. The new leak shows that OPPO is preparing a tough competitor. The company's next top flagship smartphone, the OPPO Find X9 Ultra, can present a camera system with a truly innovative sensor, potentially setting new standards for mobile photography.

This latest information comes from a well-known Chinese tipter, Digital Chat Station. According to our post on Weibo, OPPO is currently testing the Find X9 Ultra prototype with a 200-megapixel resolution main sensor.

This is a huge jump from the 50MP sensor on the current Find X8 Ultra (old) model. With a sensor size of about 1/1.1 inches, this size is slightly smaller than the 1.0-inch sensor on the OPPO Find X8 Ultra. However, a four-fold increase in resolution will be more than enough to offset it.

It should be noted that previous leaks mentioned that the Find X9 Ultra will have two 200MP cameras. Given that the X8 Ultra already has a telephoto periscope lens with this resolution, another 200MP sensor is likely a key sensor that is upgraded.

Large Telephoto Periscope Sensors

The increase does not stop there. Find X9 Ultra is also expected to come with a much better telephoto periscope camera. Leaks said that this telephoto sensor would be much larger, reaching about 1/1.28 inches (via Nakajimegame).

In comparison, the X8 Ultra has two zoom sensors (3x and 6x), the largest of which is 1/1.56 inches in size. This enhancement is very significant. Larger sensors can capture more light, resulting in better performance in light minima conditions, lower visual noise in photos, and richer dynamic range. Overall, this means more details on the brightest and most dark parts of a view.

Even more interesting for zoom in conditions of lack of light. Leaks mention the existence of an "ultra-width open" for this upgraded telephoto periscope lens. Although no specific figure has been given, this feature can drastically improve performance in light-silent conditions and the quality of the photo is zoomed in. As a context, telephoto sensors with the largest opening on the Find X8 Ultra reach f/2.1.

Interestingly, this leak also shows a wider trend in the smartphone industry. Like its predecessor, the Find X9 Ultra will be equipped with a multi-spectral sensor for more accurate color calibration.

The tipster adds that we're going to start seeing this feature appear in more flagship phones from other brands, surpassing some specific brands (mainly OPPO and Huawei) that are currently offering it.

Keep in mind that Find X8 Ultra has just been released (April 2025). So, it's too early to discuss its successor. Leaks mention that the specifications of this camera come from the OPPO Find X9 Ultra prototype, which means there are still possible changes in specifications. Even so, the potential for camera upgrade being tested by this brand is very interesting, and we hope this upgrade will be present in the final product.
