BGN Boss Ensures Additional Budget Not For MBG Infrastructure

JAKARTA - Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana emphasized that the additional budget for the Free Nutritioning Program (MBG) of up to Rp335 trillion in 2026 will not be intended for the construction of public kitchen infrastructure or known as the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG).

Dadan said that infrastructure development to support the implementation of President Prabowo's flagship program will be completed this year using a partnership scheme.

"So, I need to say that infrastructure does not always have to be financed by the state budget. Well, in this MBG (program) all infrastructure that is now running is purely financed by partners," Dadan said at a press conference at the head office of the Directorate General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance, Jakarta, Friday, August 15.

"The number is 90 percent of partners, so next year there will be no infrastructure development, yes. Once again the infrastructure has been completed this year by partners," he continued.

He explained that the additional budget was entirely intended for nutritional interventions targeting 82 million MBG recipients, with the categories of students, prestudents, pregnant/breastfeeding mothers and toddlers. Thus, the calculation of the budget allocation is estimated at IDR 1.2 trillion per day.

"The intervention alone requires IDR 1.2 trillion per day. multiplied by 20 days, (so) IDR 25 trillion per month because the amount is large," he explained.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto revealed that the government would allocate a budget of IDR 335 trillion for the MBG program next year.

"We allocated the MBG budget for 2026 of IDR 335 trillion," he said in a speech on the 2026 Financial Note and RAPBN at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Friday, August 15.

Through MBG, continued Prabowo, the government wants to ensure that every Indonesian child has access to nutritious food. So, it can help overcome stunting problems in Indonesia.

"The superior generation was born from a healthy body with met nutrition. It eliminates stunting as soon as possible. The MBG program has been implemented in all provinces and continues to be built to reach all corners of the country," he said.

Prabowo said the program was targeted to be able to reach 82.9 million beneficiaries. Consisting of students, pregnant women and toddlers. He said, the group will receive the benefits of optimal nutritional intake through a nutritional fulfillment service unit (SPPG) built in all corners of the country.
