Three Pickpockets At Ancol Sound Project Concert Arrested By Police

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pademangan Police managed to apprehend 3 gangs of pickpockets who specialize in the Sound Project concert in the Ancol area, Pademangan, North Jakarta.

Of the three pickpocket gangs, there are 7 people, with various different roles.

The arrest of the three gangs of pickpocket specialists was led directly by the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pademangan Police, AKP Ikhsan Muhaiyin at the concert location.

A total of 2 team members of the Criminal Investigation Unit were involved in the arrests of pickpocket gangs who often disturbed the community who visited the concert.

Members who disguised themselves as concert visitors managed to carry out direct arrest operations against 7 perpetrators who were divided into 3 different groups.

"So we suspect them (the perpetrators) and observe them, then when they grabbed them we immediately arrested them at the location. Evidence was found of a number of cellphones belonging to the victim," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pademangan Police AKP Ikhsan Muhaiyin to reporters, Friday, August 15, 2025.

The cellphones confiscated from the hands of the perpetrators were iPhone 10, iPhone XR, iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 promax. The cellphone belonged to the victim.

Meanwhile, the 7 perpetrators who were arrested came from three different groups. The first pickpocket group was known to have the initials DH, AG and HA.

Then for the second group with the initials AF and HY. The third pickpocket group has the initials RS and AA.

"So these three groups they played as a team, separately and we made different arrests at different times and times," he said.

In their action, the perpetrators spread to 6 concert stages to monitor the situation and the victims.

"The method is because there are 6 stages where the perpetrators will monitor the crowded situation, they will crowd there and take the cellphone either from the pocket of the pants or from the victim's bag," he said.

For further processing, the seven perpetrators were taken to the Pademangan Police Headquarters. Meanwhile, the victim who owns the stolen iPhone has made an official report at the Pademangan Police.

"The victim has made a report to the Pademangan Police. The victim himself is scattered in Jabodetabek, some are in Bogor, in other areas of Jakarta," he explained.

From the perpetrator's confession, the mode of pickpocketing was done by going in to buy a ticket as if he was a concert visitor.

"So they used to buy tickets and dress like people who would watch concerts," added Kanit.

For their actions, the seven perpetrators were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a maximum threat of 7 years in prison.
