Trump: In 2 Minutes I'll Know Whether Meeting With Putin Is Good Or Bad
JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump believes Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to create peace in Ukraine. Trump thinks Putin will not "play" at their summit today in Alaska.
"We will find out where everyone is. And I will know in two minutes, three minutes, four minutes, or the first five minutes whether we will have a good or bad meeting," Trump told reporters at the White House on Thursday, August 14 local time.
"And if the meeting is bad, it will end very quickly and if the meeting is good, we will achieve peace in the near future," Trump continued.
Trump has long claimed Putin will not launch a full-scale invasion of Ukraine by 2022 if he becomes president. He said the war should never have happened.
"If I wasn't president, in my opinion, he would rather take over all of Ukraine. But I am president, and he will not mess with me," Trump said.
