Crazy Traffic Jams In Tangerang Impact Of Pelawad 2 Bridge Project, Banten Provincial Government: Target Completed December
JAKARTA - The Banten Provincial Government has accelerated the completion of the Pelawad 2 Bridge project in Tangerang City which is considered to be the cause of severe congestion in the area.
Head of the Banten Province Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR), Arlan Marzan, said that his party was coordinating acceleration steps with implementing contractors.
"This is being coordinated for acceleration," said Arlan in Serang City, Antara, Friday, August 15.
He said the project was targeted for completion in December 2025. Arlan asked contractors to follow police directions to minimize the impact on traffic.
"For the implementation of the work, we direct contractors to follow all directions from the police, both in terms of working time and the equipment used. This is to adjust to the surrounding traffic," he said.
According to Arlan, the congestion around the project got worse when it rained because many motorcyclists took shelter under the flyover.
"Severe congestion occurs because when it rains there are many two-wheeled riders taking shelter at the Jakarta flyover," he said.
Previously, the Head of the Division of Corporate Secretary and Public Relations of Transjakarta Tjahyadi DPM identified two main causes of queues of passengers that exploded at the Transjakarta CSW Bus Stop on Tuesday (12/8) night.
The queue was triggered by severe congestion on the Pelawad 2 Bridge project line around Puri Beta and puddles with a height of 2035 cm due to heavy rains and flooding in the Kreo area.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Tangerang City Transportation Agency (Dishub), Achmad Suhaely, said that his party was preparing traffic engineering to unravel congestion.
"Because this is a provincial road, we are trying to coordinate with the Provincial Transportation Agency so that together we can regulate traffic engineering dynamically, including diverting currents and placing officers at points prone to congestion," he said.
The Tangerang City Transportation Agency also coordinates with Transjakarta so that services remain optimal despite disturbances on the track.
"It is in line that services continue to run as optimally as possible and passengers are not disturbed," said Suhaely.

This bridge will be expanded from 12 meters to 17 meters and increased by one meter from the previous position with a budget of IDR 7 billion, according to data from the Banten Province Electronic Procurement Service (LPSE).
The increase in this bridge is planned to last for 167 working days to facilitate the flow of the Cantiga River.
