Prabowo Requires Milling To Have A Special Permit, Titiek Suharto: So As Not To Turn Off Small Milling
JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission IV DPR RI, Titiek Suharto explained President Prabowo Subianto's statement requiring an annealing business to obtain special permission from the government.
According to Titiek, this rule aims to protect small-scale milling business owners so they don't 'die' squeezed because large business annealing of course has a larger capital.
"Yes, you said that the milling was big, don't turn it off. Those in power, kill the small ones," he told the media crew after attending the 2025 MPR and DPR Annual Sessions held at the Parliament Building, Senayan, Friday, August 15.
Titiek said, with this new scheme, large-scale rice milling will no longer easily manage prices. Later, this price will also be controlled by the government.
"So what we are turning on, those who are milling that can regulate prices, nothing else is like that. The government regulates prices, that's the best for the community," said Titiek.
Previously in his speech, President Prabowo Subianto had set new rules for the national rice mill business.
In this new regulation, he requires large-scale rice mills to have special government permits.
According to him, rice is in the interests of the community, but there are still many entrepreneurs who use their strength to dominate and manipulate people's lives.

"On this basis, today I announce after careful consideration by the government to protect people's rights to get the right rice, right on the right price, right quality, affordable price, and large-scale milling businesses must obtain special permission from the government if they still want to move in this field," Prabowo said in his speech, Friday, August 15.
According to him, his government will also take firm action against all types of violations and manipulations as well as efforts to hoard and detain food distributions that will have an impact on the lives of many people.
"We will save the people, we will defend the interests of the people, we ensure that the Indonesian people will not become victims of serkahnomics," he said.
