Deputy Minister Of Communication And Trade Nezar: Digital Space Must Be A Safe And Productive Channel For Women

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria emphasized that independence in the digital era must be interpreted as freedom of expression, work, and participate safely in cyberspace, especially for women.

He said, in an era where the internet is inseparable from life, digital space is now a channel and a forum that opens up opportunities for learning, trying, and speaking for change.

"For women, digital space is even a channel to expand learning opportunities, build independence, and speak up for meaningful changes," Nezar said in his official broadcast.

However, Nezar reminded that there are still big challenges that must be faced, ranging from the internet access gap, limited digital literacy, to the threat of online gender-based violence.

To that end, he encourages cross-sectoral collaboration, both families, educators, governments, and civil society to ensure technology, including artificial intelligence, becomes a bridge of progress, not a barrier.

"We must together ensure that every family is able to make safe and productive use of digital technology," he said.

According to Nezar, all Indonesian people are obliged to use the internet and AI as a means of advancing Indonesia, not a high wall that limits the potential of the nation's children.
