Prabowo Subianto Shows Off Indonesia's First Successful Rice and Corn Exports

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto claims that the current national food production is one of the highest in history. This situation allows Indonesia to export rice and corn again for the first time.

Prabowo stated that Indonesia is currently experiencing a national rice production surplus of more than 4 million tons. This figure is the highest in Indonesian history.

"For the first time in decades, Indonesia is again exporting rice and corn," he said at the 2025 Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and Regional Representatives Council (DPD) at the DPR Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Friday, August 15.

Prabowo stated that the government is also working hard to break dependence on imports by opening millions of new rice fields.

"The government I lead is working hard to break dependence on imports by opening millions of hectares of new rice fields in Central Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, Sumatra, Papua, and several other regions," he said.

In addition to agricultural land expansion, Prabowo stated that the government is also providing a series of stimulus measures to increase national food production. This includes streamlining the fertilizer distribution chain and providing assistance with agricultural equipment.

He continued, saying that the selling price of harvested dry grain (GKP) at the farmer level is also set at a fair price of IDR 6,500 per kilogram (kg).

"I see farmers everywhere smiling because the price of grain is stable and their income is increasing," he explained.

Prabowo also said this is a step to protect the Indonesian people, especially against misappropriation and food hoarding.

"The government I lead will always be vigilant against fraud, manipulation, deception, attempts to hoard, and withholding food distribution. The government I lead will not hesitate," he said.

"We will always be firm with those who violate the rules, those who make life difficult for the people, those who seek outrageous profits at the expense of the common people," he continued.
