List Of 23 Gold Medals In Indonesia At The BWF World Championships
JAKARTA Indonesia has recorded 23 gold medals in the history of the BWF World Championship event or known as the BWF World Championship.
The BWF World Championship will resume this month, on August 25-31, 2025, at Adidas Arena, Paris, France. This is the 29th edition since it was first held in 1977.
Of the total gold medals owned by Indonesia in this event, the women's doubles are the only sector that has not contributed. This number is recorded as having only three silver and four bronze medals.
Men's doubles is the most successful sector in the history of the World Championships so far. This number has collected 10 gold medals, including the success of Hendra Setiawan.

Hendra was recorded as taking the first podium on four occasions with two different pairs. His biggest success was when he was with Mohammad Ahsan, who won this event three times (2013, 2015, and 2019).
Following in second place is the men's singles sector which has secured six gold medals. This title fast has been going on for two decades since Taufik Hidayat in 2005.
Next, the sector with the third most titles is mixed doubles. Liliyana Natsir is equal to Hendra Setiawan with four titles, two each with Nova Widianto and two others with Tontowi Ahmad.
Then the women's singles have so far only collected two gold medals from the prestigious event on behalf of Verawaty Fadjrin and Susi Suanti. This title drought has been since Susi took the highest podium in 1993 in Birmingham, England.
Indonesia's first gold medal from this event was secured in the first edition at Malmo through the men's doubles Tjun Tjun/Johan Wahjudi. The pair won after defeating their compatriot Ade Chandra/Christian Hadinata in the final.
At that time Denmark dominated with three gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze medal. The dominance was complemented by the success of Lene Koppen in winning gold in singles and mixed doubles.
In the second edition in Jakarta 1980, Indonesia as the host managed to send eight representatives to the final of all sectors and create three All Indonesian Final matches. It was the most successful edition for Indonesia.
Indonesia finally won four gold medals, except in women's doubles which was taken by the British representative. At that time Christian Hadinata secured two gold in the men's doubles and mixed doubles.
Indonesia's second-largest success at the World Championships then occurred in 1993. At that time, the men's singles number, women's singles, and men's doubles managed to secure a gold medal.
Indonesia's last gold medal from the World Championships was obtained in the 2019 edition through Hendra/Ahsan. After that, Indonesia's best achievement in the tournament was two silver medals.
