Petrus Reinhard Becomes Head Of IPL For The 2025-2029 Service Period

JAKARTA Commissioner General (Komjen) of Police (Ret.) Prof. Dr. Petrus Reinhard Golose was elected as Chairman of the Indonesia Pingpong League (IPL) for the 2025-2029 term of service.

Petrus will be the number one IPL person for the next four years after being elected by acclamation at the IPL Congress which took place at the Officers' Institution, Balai Sudirman, Jakarta, on Thursday, August 14, 2025, WIB night.

Petrus rose to the highest peak of IPL replacing the previous general chairman as well as the pioneer of IPL, Muhammad Saleh Mustafa. Meanwhile, Imam Hendrawan was elected as Deputy General Chair of IPL.

The congress was attended by 22 of 25 IPL member clubs. The selection process was witnessed by the Secretary General of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), Raul Calin, via Zoom.

Petrus when chairing the session to close Congress expressed hope that table tennis players in Indonesia could move together to develop and develop the sports achievements he leads.

"My responsibility with the Deputy General Chairperson and the Executive Committee who were elected is how to maintain good relations. Let us compete in advancing athletes, not in other things," said the former Head of BNN.

This IPL Congress follows up on the ITTF mandate which asks the federation to immediately implement the General Chairperson Election Congress, the Deputy General Chair, the IPL Executive Committee, and the ratification of the Statutes in accordance with applicable regulations after they were formed.

Thus, IPL has now been recognized as the official table tennis federation in Indonesia which has an affiliation with the international table tennis body. So, Saleh's previous position in the chair of IPL General Chair has not been recognized by the ITTF.

When giving his speech after being elected, Petrus emphasized that he would embrace all stakeholders to restore the glory of Indonesian table tennis in international forums.

He said that with a population of almost 280 million people at this time, Indonesia should be able to produce winning athletes in various important events at the international level.

"There are about 10 percent of the total population in Indonesia playing table tennis from the village to the city."

"This is a huge potential. I am sure that with the support and cooperation of all parties, Indonesian table tennis will bounce back," he said.

He also promised to hold professionally managed matches like what IPL has done in the last two seasons to support player performances.

"To the ITTF, we expect support for organizing the WTTF tournament and continue to facilitate Indonesian players to compete at the international level," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of KOI/NOC Indonesia, Raja Sapta Oktohari, who opened the 2025 IPL Congress, emphasized his relief and joy if Indonesia could again compete in table tennis at an international event.

"The presence of IPL is the opening door for Indonesia to be able to compete again for table tennis in the international arena, both single events and multi-events," said Okto.
