Cadillac Showcases "Elevated Velocity" Concept At Monterey Car Week, Electric Crossover With Gullwing Door

JAKARTA - Cadillac is again stealing attention at the Monterey Car Week event which is currently taking place in the United States by introducing the concept of its newest electric vehicle, the Elevated Velocity.

This concept marks Cadillac's ambitious move in its electric vehicle line evolution, presenting a unique mix of high-performance SUVs with lightweight offroad capabilities and futuristic design.

This concept was revealed at The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering, which has become a major platform for automakers to showcase their innovative design in a more exclusive environment. As the name implies, Elevated Velocity is a performance crossover with a high ground clearance, applying the V-Series philosophy into a 2+2 design equipped with a rolling door.

Citing Autoweek, Friday, August 15, the Elevated Velocity features a slim and aerodynamic design for use on highways, but still has the ability to conquer off-road terrain as needed. Although it uses 24-inch wheels that are more suitable for display on the red carpet than on the off-road route, this concept is designed as a fully functioning prototype.

Cadillac designed this concept with several driving modes that drivers can choose, such as Terra Mode, which raises air suspensions to the highest level for offroads, and e-Velocity Mode which is optimized for performance on highways. In addition, there are other futuristic modes such as Elements Defy that use vibrations to clean up dirt from the exterior of the car and Sand Vision which is a night vision technology adapted to sandstorms.

The design of the Elevated Velocity interior is designed to "improve the welfare state for its passengers". Its cabinet features a mix of premium materials, ranging from fine layered surfaces, bounce fabrics, to colored acrylics, with inspiration from activities such as "desert polo pursuits".

One of the most striking features in the cabin is an integrated screen in the middle of the steering wheel, resembling a waterfall. In addition, this concept is also equipped with innovative technologies such as an active air filtration system that cleans the dust, and integrated red light therapy that helps drivers and passengers recover after outdoor activities.

Although the Elevated Velocity is still in the form of a concept, the design is considered not too "crazy" to come true, apart from using the door scrolling on the four-seater crossover. The biggest remaining question is whether Cadillac will provide space for vehicles with this proportion in their future lineup of production.

With Cadillac's fast-growing electric vehicle line, significant risks have been taken in previous models. This opens up the possibility that the design and technology elements of the Elevated Velocity could be adapted into the upcoming production model. This car is another proof that Monterey Car Week is the ideal place for manufacturers to test their imagination limits.
